17 MARCH - HAND SEWING

This workshop is designed for students with no previous experience of hand-sewing or students who are looking to improve their sewing techniques

In this hands-on workshop, you will not only learn how to hand sew leather using two needles, but also the fundamentals of working with natural full grain vegetable tanned leathers. 

You will be guided on what tools are required and how to use them, how to prepare the leather and thread, mark stitches correctly, and how to finish edges by bevelling, burnishing and using new edge finishing products.

24 MARCH - CREATIVE TOOLING

Discover a new and exciting approach to working with veg tanned leathers, learning various steps and techniques on moisture content, how to use leather craftools to create interesting patterns, making projects with your personal touch and creativity!

7 APRIL - MAKE A BELT

In this hands-on workshop, local award winning Leather Artisan, Cherryl McIntyre will take you through the basics of creating your own leather belt. 

At the end of the day, you will have completed your own 38mm full grain leather belt that will only get better with age, developing a deep, luxurious patina as only leather can.

You will learnt what leather is suitable for the project including, hardware and tools you will understand how to make allowances for the correct belt size, you will also learn techniques and step by step skills you need to know in crafting handmade leather belts, including how to punch holes, burnish edges, and setting rivets and snaps.
