We wanted to share the details of a new workshop happening next month.

Our wonderful customer Jamie aka The Leather Maid, is holding a Belt Workshop on 19 April from 9am - 1.30pm.

In the workshop you will make, stamp, tool a leather belt.

The Leather Maid workshop is located in the Samford Valley on the Northside of Brisbane. It overlooks a tranquil dam on an idyllic property surrounded by national parks. Leather Maid is 7-10 minutes drive along Mount Glorious Road from Samford Village, at the Showgrounds turn-off. The location offers a convenient alternative for west-side and north-side folk who might not be able to make the drive to East Coast Leather.   Many workshop participants undertake the Foundation Skills Workshop first. It provides good background skills for  various other workshops. However you could tackle this workshop with no prior experience because the workshops are kept to only six participants maximum.  In the process of completing your own custom, full grained vegetable tanned leather, learn how to punch holes, set rivets, attach a buckle, and use stamping tools and colouring products.

Jamie Maloney is the Leather Maid. A professional Leather Crafter with many years experience. Her love affair with leather work started in the USA when she was 14 years old. She took an arts and crafts course that included a dabble at carving and tooling leather Western style. She got hooked and the addiction has lasted for over fifty years.

The cost of the workshop is $145 per person, it includes all materials – full grained vegetable tanned leather, hardware, buckle, rivets,, and your choice of the wide range of lacquers, dyes and stains for colouring your belt.  Light refreshments are also included.
