THE WORKSHOP

This clutch is sewn on a Domestic Sewing machine.

PLEASE NOTE:   Basic sewing skills required, which means, you must be able to sew and understand how to use your sewing machine, all machines must have been serviced.

Learn the professional techniques to create a stylish leather clutch, this is a practical course and will give you the essential skills to design your own soft leather projects.

This is a great introduction working with soft light weight chrome tanned leathers, the workshop will cover many techniques on how to make a quality leather clutch.

The workshop will cover selection of leather, pattern layout, cutting, preparing the leather, skiving to reduce the bulk, edge finishes, top zip closure, including lining with an internal pocket, setting rivets, and many other tips and hints on construction to produce professional finished leather items.

The older sewing machines Singer, Janome, Elna and Bernina etc are suitable to sew light weight soft leathers. Example Singer 66,99,201K are excellent.

 

TOOL LIST

  • You will need to bring the following items:

  • Sewing machine

  • Bobbin’s

  • Zipper foot

  • Walking foot if you have one

  • Size 16 Leather machine needles at least 2-3

  • Power board & extension power cord

  • Desk light

  • Cutting mat

  • Scissors

  • Snips

  • Small craft knife or Scalpel with a no 11 blades

  • Small Rotary Cutter

  • Assorted polyester threads

  • Metal rule or patchwork ruler

  • Pins

  • Bulldog clips or paper slide

Other tools and equipment will be supplied by the tutor, including sewing threads, and assorted lining fabrics

Cost $135.00 plus Leather available to purchase on the day approx cost $45 - $50.00 for the clutch.
