The ‘Leathercrafters Association of Queensland Inc’ was formed by a small enthusiastic group of people in May 1985. As a non-profit organization, the association’s main goal was to promote, develop, and advance leather art/craft, constantly encouraging and sharing of ideas, skills and resources.

Membership is available to all people who are interested in leather, including both enthused hobbyists, from a beginner, intermediate to the professional.

All members receive a quarterly newsletter providing information of workshop activities, seminars, and conferences, together with tutorials and current news of the leather trade suppliers.

The members meet bi-monthly on the third Sunday of the month commencing January each year, from 9.30 am to 4pm.

Members provide workshops, other activities such as demonstrations, trade presentations, excursions etc.

Since the beginning in 1985, the ‘Leathercrafters Association of Queensland’ have organized and participated in an amazing range of diverse workshops.

Some of these classes include leather carving, colouring, bound edges, three dimensional pictures, leather flowers, sculpture, plaiting, whip construction, box construction and box covering, pattern design, leather jewelry, hand sewing, fashion handbags sewn on a domestic sewing machine, apparel, molded urns, bottle covering. leather mache, leather masks to name a few.

The Association hosts the International Leather Conferences in Brisbane and has proudly presented thirteen Leather Conferences since 1994.

The next Conference will be help in 2023.

Membership is $50.00 per year commencing July.
